Over the past few weeks children at Fortune Kindergarten Dongfang prepared for their "Language Arts Festival" with hands on classroom activities that helped form the basis for their classroom presentations. Parents were invited to children's classes to witness their children bringing literature to life. As this is the second year for our schools to celebrate this Festival, Fortune Dongfang and Hongqiao teamed up to arrange complimentary trips between schools to provide children from both schools the opportunity to perform at different venues.  

This month the children and teachers at Fortune Dongfang Kindergarten celebrated cultural diversity beginning with the diverse cultures that constitute our school community and expanding to less familiar cultures, by dedicating a day, during All Cultures Week, to each of the following cultures: Maya, Maori, Masai, Mongolian and Greek. Class, age-level and whole school activities focused on developing cultural awareness and providing a context for cross-cultural understanding.

To celebrate Lantern Festival and Valentine's Day, Fortune Hongqiao Kindergarten held a whole school Recycled Lantern Competition. This activity encouraged the children and teachers in each class to design a unique lantern (for Lantern Festival) with a Love theme (for Valentines Day). The lantern designs were expected to include recycled materials and a light source, and were expected to reflect the teachers’ and children’s creativity and imagination. On February 10^th, when all the parents came to school for the PTM, the parents voted for their favourite lanterns.
